The Holdingford girls swimming and diving team is very young, with head coach David Langerud himself in his first year in charge.

But Langerud believes the program is moving in the right direction with a core group of contributors already in place, while using the season as a building block in the development of the program.

“You can see from the grades that our girls are in, we have a very young team,” Langerud said. “We are excited about this year with our returning varsity team and the future of Husker swimming. Our coaching staff is looking forward to an awesome year of fun and success.”

Despite having a young team, the Huskers return a wealth of swimmers with varsity experience, with seniors Megan Auger (200, 500) and Jodi Middendorf (dive, 500 free), junior Gabby Langerud (50 free, 100 fly), sophomores Haley Auger (breast stroke, fly), Maddie Christensen (100 back, fly) and Meghan Mokhtary (100 breast stroke) and freshman Arianna Vasilj (free, fly) among the leaders.

“We are expecting a solid season this year with a lot of growth in all our swimmers,” Langerud said. “My expectation is to compete in every single conference meet and to advance at least five to six girls to the section meet.”
