It won’t take long for the Holdingford volleyball team to find out where it stands.

Coming off a 14-14-1 season in 2012, the Huskers won’t have the luxury of easing into their Central Minnesota Conference (CMC) schedule, as they face last season’s top two finishers in their first pair of CMC matches.

Holdingford will look to returning starting senior outside hitter Samantha Maciej and sophomore middle hitter Summer Storm to guide them early on, as well as seniors Anna Warzecha (setter) and Maddi Vogt (outside hitter) and junior Kaitlyn Hellmann (middle hitter).

“Strong digging will be essential, because we won’t be able to present a huge block. Our serving should be consistent,” head coach Brenda Payne said. “Strong serves that lead to aces are going to be necessary to stay competitive.”

Seniors on this year’s team include Maciej, Vogt, Warzecha, Jaryn Olson, Cortney Kostreba, Megan Ruprecht and Vanessa Prokott.

Holdingford opens the season with a non-conference match at Foley, Tuesday.
