Morris Ray Shepherd, 43, Little Falls, was charged Aug. 16, in the Morrison County District Court, with one felony count of third degree assault resulting in substantial bodily harm.
On May 18, several Little Falls police officers responded to a report of an assault. They met with the victim who appeared to have a broken nose. He told the officers that while he was having a dispute with his mother’s boyfriend, Shepherd approached, allegedly told the victim to “Get your hands off of me,” and then hit him in the face several times, knocking the victim to the ground.
According to the criminal complaint, witnesses gave a similar account of the altercation.
When located, Shepherd allegedly said he had tried to separate the victim and the other person during their dispute and at that time, he was hit. He said he fled the scene.
If convicted, Shepherd faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
