Just 11 seconds into the second overtime, Little Falls senior Tim Infinger was handling the ball deep outside the penalty box, drawing Bemidji keeper out with him.
Infinger set and delivered a ball toward the top right corner of the goal, floating right over the keeper’s head and into the net to give Little Falls a season-opening 3-2 win, Friday.
The Flyers began their first game with a blistering start, dictating the action by tilting play toward the Bemidji goal.
That quickly paid off, as senior Jake Loukinen snuck a shot just over the goal line to give Little Falls a 1-0 lead 9:15 into the contest, then buried another goal two minutes later, with junior Thomas Bell and senior Connor Jorgensen earning assists.
However, Bemidji settled in defensively from that point on through the end of regulation, enabling it to stay within striking distance.
With the score still at 2-0 coming out of halftime, the Lumberjacks got on the board in the 51st minute, then evened the contest at 2-2 in the 64th minute to force overtime.
Senior Noah Eliason earned the win in goal for the Flyers.
