obit - Laverne Tanner.LaVern F. Tanner, a resident of Little Falls, formerly of Pierz, passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Aug. 28, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Little Falls.

LaVern Boser was born Sept. 13, 1921, in Pierz, to John J. and Caroline (Block) Boser. She was united in marriage to Orville Tanner Sept. 14, 1963, in Grand Island, Neb. LaVern enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing cards, dancing and spending time with family. She was a manager at the Morrison County Record, and after retirement spent much of her time volunteering at St. Otto’s Care Center. She was a past member of the St. Camillus Advisory Board and received an award for nine years of service. LaVern was also a member of the Pierz American Legion Post 341 Women’s Auxiliary.

LaVern is survived by her children, Bernita (Roger) Dodge, of Penn Valley, Calif., Terry Tanner, of Little Falls, and Kristy Tanner of Little Falls; brothers, Mickey (Lorraine) Boser, Richard (Marge) Boser, Lolly (Ralph) Hoheisel, Evie (Ronnie) Boser, Terry (Harvey) Block and Tootie LeBlanc, all of Pierz; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Caroline Boser; husband, Orville Tanner; daughter, Denise Swanson; brothers, Herb Boser, Floyd Adriens and Freddy Boser; and sisters Christine Duscher, Marie Collins, Dellie Brausen, Catherine Wuellner and Doreen Jones. She will be greatly missed by many.

Honorary casketbearers were Ashleigh Ley, Amy Nolan, Katelyn Theimer and Tracy Tanner.

Casketbearers were Tom Hayes, Troy Theimer, Tony Tanner, Paul Ley, Dale Hayes and Brook Howard.
