Doris M. Gwost was born June 30, 1926, in Pierz, to the late Herman and Adeline “Addie” (Virnig) Boser. She was united in marriage to Walter “Wally” H. Gwost Aug. 16, 1945, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz. The couple made their home in Little Falls  for almost 40 years. After Wally’s death on Sept. 22, 1984, Doris continued to live there until 2009. She then resided at Pine Grove Manor for two years and most recently at the Country Manor in Sartell, since 2011.Doris was first and foremost a homemaker raising her 11 children. Later she worked for Lutheran Social Services at the Christus Group Home in Little Falls, Hammerbeck’s Nursery, The President’s Café and even took care of the flowers for Our Lady of Lourdes and First National Bank for several years. She was the founder of “Worn-A-Bit,” a gently used clothing store in Little Falls supporting Pro-Life. Doris and Wally also helped start the Morrison County MCCL, the Morrison County Day Activity Center (DAC) and were members of the Advocacy, Resources and Community (ARC). But Doris truly loved her “other children” — her flowers. She loved them immensely and grew and nurtured them with a passion and flare. She also enjoyed dancing, sewing, quilting and guiding bus tours. She was a blue ribbon recipient for vegetables, bread making, canning and her caramel rolls for many years at the Morrison County Fair.
