The city of Pierz now has a new treasurer, at least until the 2014 election. The City Council interviewed four candidates Monday and voted to appoint Linda Sczublewski to the post.
The city has been without a treasurer since the passing of Maureen Watercott, who had served the city for 14 years.
Sczublewski has a bachelor’s degree in business management and a two-year degree in business. Since 2010, she has worked as an account technician with Morrison County and prior to that, worked as an office assistant with various companies.
Mayor Toby Egan said the would have had no qualms about appointing any of the four applicants. “We were fortunate to have the four applicants we had,” he said.
In addition to Sczublew-ski, the Council interviewed Eric Boser, Colleen Lucking and Mary Gritzmacher.
Sczublewski will be sworn in as city treasurer at the Council’s Sept. 9 meeting.
