The Robert Street/Park Avenue and Safe Routes to School projects are about wrapped up in Pierz. With the road and sidewalk construction, many residents’ lawns, at least part of them, were dug up.
The city’s engineer provided a reminder for residents whose lawns were dug up as the projects are completed.
First, the city/county or the contractor will not be reinstalling or repairing sprinkler systems affected by the project. Residents should reinstall the systems after the seeding restoration work is complete.
The contractor will restore areas of residents’ lawns disturbed by the construction project — putting down topsoil, fertilizer and grass seed. It is however, the property owner’s/resident’s responsibility to water the new seed regularly. Without sufficient watering, the grass cannot take root and grow into a well-established lawn.
This not only includes people’s lawns, but also the boulevards in front of their homes where seed was planted.
