Cross Country: Royalton’s Carlson, Holdingford boys runners-up at Maple Lake

Juniors Abe Skwira (16:54) and Andrew Zachman (16:59) each came in under the 17-minute mark as the Holdingford boys earned second place at the season-opening Maple Lake Invite, Friday.

The Royalton boys followed in fifth place in the 12-team race, with the Holdingford girls taking third and the Royalton girls finishing 10th.

Trailing Skwira and Zachman’s top-six finishes for the Huskers were senior Nick Hiltner (18:20), sophomore Marcus Rick (18:56), junior Jacob Thell (18:59) and senior Ben Douvier (20:05).

Royalton junior Zachary Carlson took home runner-up honors with a time of 16:45, followed by junior Tremayne Collins (18:14), sophomore Ben Borash (19:10) and freshmen Jordan Malikowski (20:05) and Thomas Strusz (20:27).

In the girls race, sophomore Allie Ruprecht (17:03) led Holdingford with a third-place finish, while junior Emily Wolter (18:14), freshman Jo Merten (18:25) and senior Abby Mokhtary (18:32) also placed in the top 20.

Freshmen Angel Rick (18:55) and Amanda Douvier (19:45) and sophomore Sunni Ebnet (20:05) rounded out the Holdingford lineup.

Freshman Emma Hoheisel (19:52) and sophomore Madi Rudolph (20:18) paced the Royalton girls, followed by freshman Chloe Novak (20:41), junior Jenna Trutwin (21:48) and sophomore Alexis Witucki (22:20).
