Monarch stops in Randall before heading south

MonarchHere is a photo Tony Wenzel of Randall recently took of a Monarch butterfly “filling up” before the long migration trip to Mexico. “The big mystery in nature is that they have just hatched and their parents die, so they have no one to guide them to Mexico and they have never been to Mexico before. Yet they make it and winter in Mexico with billions of their own kind,” said Wenzel. “It has been known that although the Monarch Butterfly only weighs as much as a small paper clip, but when millions and millions hang from the tree limbs, their weight have been known to break the big oak like limbs of which they hang on.  That’s a lot of butterflies.”
