Katie Paine-Santos, RN coordinator for Lakewood Care Center’s Memory Care Unit was recently named Nurse – Caregiver of the Year by Care Providers of Minnesota. Paine-Santos was nominated by Dan Donahue, Lakewood’s Vice President of Senior Services, along with care center and memory care staff and patient family members.
The Nurse – Caregiver of the Year is awarded to a nurse who displays extraordinary skills in caring for individuals residing in a nursing facility, assisted living establishment, or receiving care at home. They communicate sensitively with individuals who are in their care and their family members; they listen carefully, exhibit empathy and respect, and promote dignity.
“We were very proud when Katie received the Nurse – Caregiver of the Year award,” said Donahue. “She has been able to build a team to provide exceptional care for all the residents on her unit. She is always in good spirits and inspires others to do well for the residents who make this their home.”
