Area Girls Tennis: Little Falls brushes aside Mora

Little Falls didn’t drop a set in four singles matches en route to taking down host Mora 5-2 in Tuesday’s Granite Ridge Conference opener.

The Flyers were led by the freshmen duo of Arielle Emerson and Angela Meschke at the top two spots, with Emerson sailing 6-2, 6-0 and Meschke winning 6-0, 6-1.

Senior Briana Anderson picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles and eighth-grader Grace Schulte won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4 singles.

Junior Rachel Veillette and sophomore Elizabeth Kula produced a hard-fought 6-4, 7-6 (6) win at No. 3 singles.

 

Pierz falls to Pine City, LPGE/USA defeats New York Mills

Elsewhere, Pierz fell 6-1 to visiting Pine City, Tuesday, with Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Upsala-Swanville Area (LPGE/USA) winning its second Prairie Conference match in a row to open the season over visiting New York Mills.

Junior Kelsey Moulzolf earned the Pioneers’ lone win against Pine City at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-4.
