Bar hopping just got safer – Shawns Party Bus is available for events and special occasions

Gas prices are not going to drop soon. Being caught drinking and driving will always be an issue. Shawn and Faith Scheerle of Randall, have come up with a solution when a group of friends or a family wants to go out to celebrate a special event.

Shawns Party Bus had its first run Aug. 16. A group of friends went bar hopping and Shawn was their designated driver.

“This allows people to go out and have fun without the worry of getting a DWI,” said Shawn. “It will also save on gas costs plus the group is able to have everyone in one vehicle for the entire evening.”

Shawn Scheerle, Randall, now offers the community a bus to take groups bar-hopping or to any event within Minnesota. He will be the designated driver for birthdays, weddings, casino runs or more. Pictured are Faith, left, and Shawn Scheerle, owners of Shawns Party Bus.

Shawns Party Bus is fully insured and licensed in the state of Minnesota. The bus seats 27 people comfortably, has bathroom facilities and a bar area.

“I provide the glasses and the ice,” said Shawn. “The booze and coolers are up to the guests.”

Scheerle has also equipped the bus with air conditioning, heat, a stereo system and iPod jacks.

The party bus will take groups on casino runs, and is available for holidays and events such as New Year’s Eve, weddings, birthdays, bachelor or bachelorette parties, sporting events in the Twin Cities, fall color tours and more.

“I saw the need for a party bus when I was asked to drive one for a bachelor party,” said Shawn. “I enjoyed the people and was happy to ensure they all got home safely.”

Shawns Party Bus will be doing monthly fun runs to different local areas. Its first fun run took a bus full from Randall to Pillager, then to Motley, Cushing and back to Randall. The bus will leave Randall at 6:30 p.m. and be back in Randall for last call.

“Each run will be to a different area,” said Shawn. “I am working with local establishments for future runs.”

And, if anyone is unable to drive themselves home when they are dropped off, Shawn will gladly take them home for a fee.

Scheerle offers his monthly fun run customers a punch card. If they get their ticket punched four times after four trips, the fifth fun run is free.

Is it legal under MN No Fault Statues to have open bottles (open liquor) in a moving vehicle? Is there an exemption for a commercial vehicle, or is a liquor license required? This just sounds like ‘open bottle’ to me. Just wondering.
