Central Minnesota Cross Country: Holdingford wins again at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle

Holdingford junior Andrew Zachman sped away from the field for his second win in a row at Monday’s Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Section 6A preview.

Zachman covered the course in 17:12.8, nearly half a minute ahead of the runner-up, as the Huskers topped the 15-team field.

Junior Abe Skwira added a fifth-place finish in 18:08.9, with senior Nick Hiltner (19:15.4), junior Jacob Thell (19:26.2) and sophomore Marcus Rick (19:37.7) also scoring for the Huskers.

The Royalton boys finished in eighth place overall, led by a 12th-place effort turned in by junior Tremayne Collins (19:01.0).

Sophomore Ben Borash (19:47.9), freshmen Jordan Malikowski (20:55.8) and Thomas Strusz (21:26.8) and junior Eli Stevens (31:33.0).

Sophomore Matt Janson (20:14.1) was the lone varsity runner for the Pierz boys.

On the girls side, Holdingford finished second overall, paced by freshman Jo Merten (17:20.8), senior Abby Mokhtary (17:26.6), freshman Angel Rick (17:32.1) and junior Emily Wolter (17:37.9) in the top 20.

Pierz took 10th as a team, led by junior Maggie Gruber (18:01.6) in 21st individually.

Eighth-grader Beth-el Algarin (18:42.3), juniors Arre Langer (19:18.3) and Dana Hennen (20:11.5) and freshmen Taryn Becker (21:05.7) and Lilly Guck (21:29.8) capped the Pierz lineup.

Freshman Emma Hoheisel (18:39.5) and senior Ciara Kowalczyk (18:57.9) came in under the 19-minute mark to lead the Royalton girls to 11th place.
