Schaffer convicted of drug possession, gets 180 days in jail

Keith Alan Schaffer, 47, Little Falls, pleaded guilty and was convicted Sept. 10, of fifth degree felony possession of drugs.

While looking for another person, a Morrison County Deputy went to Schaffer’s residence. While still outside, he observed Schaffer near a table which held two glass pipes with white residue in them.

Schaffer was asked to step outside and a search warrant was obtained. During the search, possible marijuana and scales were located in the living room. Three baggies of suspected marijuana were found in the couch in the living room, two pills and a white crystal-like substance were found in the master bedroom and surveillance equipment was located near a door. A bong and a glass pipe was found which field-tested positive for methamphetamine and about one gram of methamphetamine was located in a paper fold on the kitchen table. Other miscellaneous paraphernalia were also located.

Schaffer indicated he did not want to speak to law enforcement, but did say he smoked methamphetamine.

Schaffer was sentenced to 13 months at the Correctional Facility in St. Cloud, stayed for five years plus 180 days in the local jail with credit for the nine days already served. He was fined $185 and given supervised probation for five years.
