Little Falls took a pair of matches in both singles and doubles play to top host Wadena-Deer Creek 4-3, Monday.
The Flyers received wins from junior Mikayla Gottwalt at No. 3 singles (6-4, 6-2), junior Katelynn Kanieski at No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-2), seniors Briana Anderson and Jessica Durfee at No. 1 doubles (3-6, 6-3, 6-0) and juniors Rachel Veillette and Rachel Reis at No. 3 doubles (6-1, 6-4).
The Flyers fell 4-3 in a tightly contested match-up at Aitkin, Sept. 12, receiving victories from Anderson at No. 3 singles (7-6, 6-3), eighth-grader Grace Shulte at No. 4 singles (6-3, 6-4) and the No. 3 doubles team of Veillette and sophomore Elizabeth Kula (6-3, 6-4).
Little Falls also fell 7-0 to Granite Ridge Conference power Becker in a home match, Tuesday.
Pierz falls to pair of ranked opponents
Pierz dropped a trio of matches, including a pair of 7-0 home defeats to sixth-ranked Foley, Sept. 12, and to second-ranked Osakis, Tuesday.
The Pioneers played a tight match with visiting Aitkin, Monday, but the Gobblers swept the doubles competition to earn a 5-2 victory.
Junior Nikki Hoheisel won in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles and freshman Hannah Andrea prevailed 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4 singles.
LPGE/USA hosts tri
Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Upsala-Swanville Area (LPGE/USA) hosted a tri with Pequot Lakes and Sauk Centre, Monday, falling 7-0 and 5-2, respectively.
The Thunder played Sauk Centre tightly, with the difference being three doubles wins for the Mainstreeters.
