Junior Thomas Bell tallied a hat trick with three goals in a quick flurry late in the second half, but host St. Cloud Cathedral held off the Flyers 5-3, Sept. 12.

Bell’s first goal came on a penalty kick after sophomore Owen Brastad was taken down in the box, followed by a header 41 seconds later off of a cross from senior Jake Loukinen.

Junior Aaron Orth assisted Bell’s final score, a hard short that ricocheted off of a defender and into the net.

Monticello pulls away

in second half

Little Falls dictated the action throughout most of the first half, but could only convert one goal as it fell 4-1 at Monticello, Sept. 14.

Bell netted the Flyers’ lone goal off of a rebound on a penalty kick.

“We had several opportunities, but couldn’t put the ball in the net other than the one goal we scored,” Little Falls head coach Julie Bell said. “In the second half it was a totally different story … we just need to put together two halves now and I think we’ll do fine.”
