Zimmerman faces five years for assault

Justin Joseph Zimmerman, 28, Little Falls, was charged Sept. 16 with one felony count of domestic assault.

On July 28, deputies at the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office spoke with a person who said she was assaulted by Zimmerman.

The victim said she was picking up two children from the Zimmerman residence when he became upset, alleging the children had been sexually assaulted.

The victim said she did not know what he was talking about and Zimmerman became enraged. She told officers he grabbed her by her shoulders and slammed her up against her vehicle numerous times. She said she was in fear for her safety.

When she told Zimmerman she was going to call the police, he told her he would kill her if she did.

An examination of Zimmerman’s criminal history showed he had been convicted of fifth degree assault in June 2011 and convicted of gross misdemeanor domestic assault in March 2012.

If convicted, Zimmerman faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
