The Holdingford boys took third and girls earned fourth at the 44-team Milaca Mega Meet, Saturday.
Juniors Abe Skwira (16:30.4) and Andrew Zachman (16:36.9) sped their way into the top five individually to pace the Holdingford boys, followed by senior Nick Hiltner (18:22.6), sophomore Marcus Rick (18:28.5), junior Jacob Thell (18:37.9) and senior Ben Douvier (19:25.7)
Junior Karl Kohler (18:18.5) posted the top time for the Pierz boys, followed by junior Kyle Becker (19:01.2) and senior Mitchell Czech (22:47.5).
In the girls varsity competition, freshmen Jo Merten (16:36.8) and Angel Rick (16:59.8) paced Holdingford, followed by junior Emily Wolter (17:08.6), senior Abby Mokhtary (17:11.2), sophomore Rachael Preusser (17:11.3), freshman Amanda Douvier (17:28.9) and sophomore Sunni Ebnet (17:29.1).
The Pierz girls finished in the top half of the pack in the meet, placing 19th overall.
Junior Maggie Gruber crossed the line first for the Pioneers in 17:19.3, trailed by freshman Lilly Guck (17:42.7), juniors Arre Langer (17:54.6) and Dana Hennen (19:05.0) and freshman Taryn Becker (19:58.6).
Royalton entered one individual in each of the varsity races, with junior Tremayne Collins clocking a time of 17:10.6 to take 12th place in the boys race, with senior Ciara Kowalczyk finishing in 18:17.6 in the girls race.
Royalton sophomore Madi Rudolph (17:46.4) and freshman Emma Hoheisel (17:47.6) finished in the top 45 of their respective age group girls races.
Placing in the top 100 of their respective age group in boys races were Royalton sophomore Ben Borash (18:45.0) and freshmen Jordan Malikowski (19:19.4) and Thomas Strusz (19:49.9), Pierz sophomore Matt Janson (19:19.7) and Holdingford junior Logan Smith (19:42.3).
There were 18 races in all throughout the day.
