Raymond Ray Brown, a resident of Royalton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center.
A Memorial Mass was held Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, with Father Laurn Virnig officiating. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Monday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. Military Honors will be conducted by the Royalton American Legion Post 137.
Raymond Ray Brown was born in Dellmont, S.D. to the late Charles and Theresa (Kobe) Brown. He was raised in Royalton, and graduated from Royalton High School. He attended Dunwoody Institute and the New, CT Maritime Service Officers School. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant (JG) and served during World War II in the war zones of the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian Oceans and the Mediterranean Seas. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Merchant Marines and the United States Coast Guard in 1945. Ray was united in marriage to Ione Corrigan at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Duelm, and they lived for many years in the Mississippi River area north of Royalton and more recently in the city of Royalton. Ray was employed at St. Gabriels Hospital in Little Falls, until his retirement in 1982. Ray was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton. He was a life member of the Royalton American Legion, Little Falls VFW and the DAV. He enjoyed traveling, current events, politics, nature, reading non-fiction and was a loyal sports enthusiast, especially the Minnesota Vikings and the Lynx.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife and soulmate, Ione Brown of Royalton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marie Brown, Phyllis Schlichting, Virginia Wood and his brother, Robert Brown.
In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the donor’s choice.
