Amanda Rieffer has been chosen as the September Student of the Month in grades 10 – 12. She is a senior and the daughter of Gail and Joel Rieffer.
“Amanda Rieffer is an excellent student who always gets her work in on time and learns hard concepts in math with ease,” said Margaret Petersen, math teacher. “I have had the privilege of having Amanda Rieffer in math class for the past three years. She is very active in the school and can be counted on to do the right thing.
“Amanda has taken several of the college classes and has taken the challenge of hard classes with ease,” said Petersen. “Amanda is one of those students who make our school a better place and can do multiple activities at the same time. Amanda could be student of the month any month of the school year.”
Rieffer enjoys dance, music, and going to Friday night football games with friends. Her future plans are to attend a four-year college with a major in science or language.
In school, Rieffer is active in extracurriculars having participated in volleyball, Student Council, theatre and concert band since seventh grade. She is currently a co-captain of the volleyball team. She began participating in track in eighth grade and has continued since. She was inducted into the National Honor Society last year as a junior.
“I have worked with Amanda for the past several years in many different science courses as well as being her volleyball coach. Amanda is an amazing young woman,” said science teacher Char Bzdok. “Besides being a leader on the volleyball court, Amanda displays a very high level of academic achievement in my science courses. I have found with working with her that she is one of those students that strives to do her best and goes above and beyond with everything she attempts. She is a very ethical young woman who has compassion for her peers and our community. Amanda is very deserving of this award.”
Rieffer is the current student body president. Other honors for Rieffer include being a Student of the Month three times previously and a four-time Athlete of the Month. She is also in Just for Kix and Girl Scouts outside of school.
“High School years go by so fast, have as much fun as you can and make memories,” Rieffer advises classmates.
