To the Editor:
Contrary to the opinion of the letter in last week’s Record (Sept. 22 issue), the recent presence and message of the Morrison County Partners for Peace group in front of Camp Ripley was exactly where and when it should have been. On a day filled with many visitors, this group had the opportunity to proclaim a very different message from business as usual at Camp.
The experience also provided parents a chance to teach their children that alternative viewpoints do exist and are believed in, as evidenced by people coming from near and far to join the group that day. It’s disappointing that the writer was embarrassed by the group being there.
Would that the writer could have used the occasion to learn from and reflect on their call for peace in this violence-filled world. — Judy Virnig, Little Falls
