To the Editor:
If people want to know the reasons for the increase in marijuana use in the county, it’s because they can. I was told straight to my face from Social Services they don’t care about pot. They are looking for bigger drugs.
Pot is still illegal. You have people sitting on their butts smoking pot, not taking care of the kids and kids are exposed to it, but they don’t care. It’s not meth. What about second hand smoke? Not to mention the second hand effects of meth.
Read the crime page in the Record and you see the same names over and over again. Obviously, they are not getting a harsh enough sentence because they keep doing it.
Drugs lead to domestic abuse. Nothing much seems to happen to them. And the women who keep taking the abusers back? Maybe they should be arrested too.
I don’t feel sorry for them. If they choose to stay with a drug-addicted abuser it’s their fault. They should either leave the drug addict or stop calling the cops every time they get beat. It’s stupid.
Start caring about the kids who have to live in it. Think about what they will be like when they grow up. Stop the cycle. — Kim Slater, Little Falls
