Weeda charged with assault with a dangerous weapon

Brenton Robert Weeda, 21, Minnetonka, was charged Sept. 19 with one felony count of second degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

Little Falls police were called to the scene of an assault in Northeast Little Falls, Sept. 18. Three victims, clearly upset, named Weeda as the person who assaulted them.

The three stated they were drinking with Weeda at a residence in Little Falls and that he became increasingly angry throughout the night. They told the officers he became so upset he left the residence.

When the three tried to calm Weeda down outside the residence, they told the officers he pulled a knife from his pocket and extended the blade. Allegedly, Weeda made punching and slashing motions with the knife.

According to the criminal complaint, Weeda threw the knife at the victims. They  told police they were scared they would be hurt. One victim did have a small cut on his arm.

Officers located Weeda walking down the street and he was transported to the Morrison County Jail. He allegedly admitted taking out the knife when he was with the three victims.

If convicted, Weeda faces a maximum penalty of seven years in prison and/or a $14,000 fine.
