Local businesses remain accessible
Motorists traveling County Road 2/Main Street through Rice will encounter delays as a segment of the road temporarily closes, and an adjacent segment closes intermittently, for two weeks beginning Tuesday, Oct. 8.
The closures are scheduled as follows.
• County Road 2 between Fourth Avenue and the Holiday Station driveway will close 24 hours a day beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8. The road will reopen by 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22; and
• County Road 2 between Fourth Avenue and Highway 10 will close daily from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Tuesday, Oct. 8. The overnight closures will be complete by 6 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23.
A signed detour will direct motorists along Highway 10, County Road 31/Division Street and County Road 2/Main Street.
The closures are needed as part of the new Highway 10/County Road 2 interchange project. When complete, the project will increase safety and mobility by replacing the current signalized intersection with a full interchange, extend acceleration lanes and improve local roads and utilities.
