Great River Arts Center in Little Falls will host an opening reception for Charles Gilbert Kapsner’s annual salon of works Saturday, Oct. 12, from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
The theme of this year’s show is “40 Anni di Italia,” highlighting Kapsner’s history of studying and working as an artist in Italy. Refreshments will be served, such as wine tasting provided by Coborn’s that will be accompanied by Italian-inspired treats. Live music will be provided by Ramona Duet.
Kapsner grew up in Little Falls before expanding his studies internationally as a student and fresco apprentice in Italy. The collection of work for Kapsner’s 2013 salon embraces the process of learning in the tradition of the masters. Through the exhibition of drawings and sketches that have never been on public display, viewers are able to understand and acknowledge the training that has led to his artistic development.
Traveling chronologically through Kapsner’s years in Italy inspires an appreciation of his masterful technique that culminates with a stunning collection of oil paintings from his most recent trip in the spring of 2013. 40 Anni di Italia will be on display in the Red Gallery of the Great River Arts Center through Nov. 2.
