After enduring multiple rain outs, Pierz finally got on the court for Section 7A play, Monday, winning its opener 6-1 over Mora before falling 7-0 to top-seeded and sixth-ranked host Foley.
Senior Kiah Marschel didn’t drop a game in sparking the Pioneers to a first-round victory over Mora, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.
Pierz finished with a sweep of singles play, also picking up wins from junior Nikki Hoheisel at No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-2), sophomore Alivia Leidenfrost at No. 3 singles (6-1, 6-4) and freshman Hannah Andrea at No. 4 singles (6-2, 6-0).
Juniors Shelbie Boser and Kelsey Moulzolf cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles and juniors Talyre Boser and Beth Oldakowski prevailed 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 at No. 3 doubles.
The Pioneers went on to complete their season in Wednesday’s individual sub-sections at Mora.
Marschel and Hoheisel each reached the quarterfinals of the singles tournament, with Marschel receiving a first-round bye and Hoheisel earning a 6-1, 6-2 win.
In doubles play, Boser and Moulzolf received a bye past the first round, while seniors Steph Brill and Emily Okroi pulled out a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win to also reach the quarterfinals.
The Pioneers finished the season with a record of 8-12.
