A Little Falls man, Jonathan Allen Klein, 18, was charged Oct. 8 in District Court with one felony count theft.
On Oct. 5, it was reported that two large steel beams were missing from a property on Gordon Circle, south of Little Falls.
When officers responded, they learned one of the beams was 60 feet long and weighed several tons and the other shorter, but had a dolly under it. The beams were worth several thousand dollars.
On Oct. 6, the officer spoke to an employee of a towing company who stated he towed the two beams to Rick’s Salvage in Royalton.
Based on the information the officer received, he believed one of the suspects in the theft was Klein.
The officer spoke with Klein and at first, Klein allegedly said he had permission to take the beams. Eventually, according to the criminal complaint, Klein admitted he was being dishonest and that he took the beams without permission.
If convicted, Klein faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
