Maynard Zimmerman

Maynard A. Zimmerman, 95, a resident of Little Falls, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at his daughters residence in rural Little Falls. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with the Rev. Jerry Cole officiating. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel. Military Rites were conducted by the Randall VFW Post #9073.
Maynard Zimmerman was born January 14,1918, in Darling Township, Morrison County, to the late Albert and Mae (Hagen) Zimmerman. He attended country school district #35 in Darling Township and lived in this area all of his life. He was united in marriage to Agnes Coates of Madison, South Dakota in 1939. He entered the US Army during World War II. When he returned he was employed with the Workers Progress Administration and worked on the stone wall that is around Camp Ripley. He was proud of working on this wall. He was employed at Camp Ripley where he worked for 35 years until retirement. His wife Agnes died in 1978. He enjoyed hobby farming and especially working with the animals. He liked to tinker with cars in the evenings. His favorite TV show was Wheel of Fortune which he faithfully watched each evening. Maynard had one daughter, Renata, the two of them enjoyed riding horses and winter days ice skating on the river. Maynard will be missed greatly by his daughter, Renata (Wade) Scepurek of Little Falls; eight grandchildren he adored, Shane, Jalon, Heidi (Dan) Enderlin, Arick, Heather (William) McDonald, Jabin, LaJoy and LaNika; eight great-grandchildren that gave him many moments of joy; sisters, Evelyn Helmerick of Little Falls and Bertha Sanders of Randall; brother, Melvin (Lorraine) Zimmerman of Little Falls; sister-in-law, Gen Zimmerman of Randall; three stepchildren, Rose, Larry and Richard.
Maynard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Agnes; his second wife; brothers, Orel and Wilber Zimmerman; two brother-in-laws; one grandson and one great-grandchild. Maynard was a member of the Randall VFW Post #9073 and attended the Assembly of God Church for the last 62 years.
