Joyce S. Berger, 85 year-old resident of Little Falls, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at St. Gabriels Hospital in Little Falls.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls, with the Rev. Jean Megorden officiating. Burial took place in the Darling Cemetery in Darling Township.
Joyce Sophia Berger was born April 5, 1928, in Tyler, to the late Carl and Adel June Johnson. She grew up in Balaton, where she attended school, graduating with the class of 1946. Joyce then went to work for Werner Trucking in Minneapolis. She was united in marriage to Norman Berger, Aug. 26, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton. Joyce enjoyed serving as Bethel Lutherans secretary for several years. In her early retirement years she worked at St. Gabriels Hospital at the switchboard. Joyce was a very active member of Bethel Lutheran Church where she enjoyed participating as a WELCA member, altar guild, and Sarahs Circle. She was also very involved as a welcome wagon hostess for many years, welcoming newcomers into the Little Falls community. Joyce enjoyed flower gardening, bible studies, sewing, baking bread and visiting with her many friends. She was a great listener and friends to many. Joyces family was very important to her, she loved to plan family reunions. She loved to pass down the family history and stories to the younger generation. She especially enjoyed spending time and going on trips with her children and grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Joyce is survived by children, Ronald (Roxanne) Berger of Jacksonville, Fla., Robert Berger of Little Falls, Karen Kuchinski of Ninilchik, Alaska, Janine (Bob) Cushman of Duluth, Mark (Judy) Berger of Little Falls, Deanna (Jim) Kasella of Holdingford and Lisa (Brian) Segler of Little Falls; grandchildren, Ron (Tina) Berger, Cindy (Steve) Chapman, Jeremy (Andrea) Berger, Dylan Berger, Kathy (Dylan) Schleicher, Jeff (Candy) Cushman, Jaime Cushman, Troy Cushman, Justin Kuchinski, Tiffany (Brian) McCorison, Darren Berger, Kelly Berger, Brent Berger, Lynn (Ben) McCarty, Shannon Kasella, Ryan Kasella, Carl Kasella, Abigail Segler, Eli Segler, Isabelle Segler; and 13 great-grandchildren.
