Little Falls man charged with both assault and domestic assault

Myron Kenneth Hart Jr., 30, Little Falls, was charged Oct. 10 in the Morrison County District Court with one felony count each of domestic assault and third degree assault – inflicting substantial bodily harm.

Little Falls officers responded to a report of domestic assault Oct. 8, and met with the victim at the St. Gabriel’s Hospital emergency room.

The victim was bandaged and it appeared her nose was extremely swollen, her upper and lower lips were bruised and swollen and her right eye was blackened.

The officers learned her nose was broken.

The victim told officers her boyfriend, Hart, had been drinking heavily and she did not want him to drive her vehicle. She said he insisted he drive his brother home and allegedly took her keys.

The victim got into the passenger seat and after the brother was taken home, she told officers Hart began to drive in a dangerous and fast manner.

The victim said she tried to get Hart to stop and that each time she reached over for the keys, he would allegedly punch her in the face with a closed fist.

According to the criminal complaint, Hart threatened to drive the vehicle off the bridge in Little Falls and kill them both.

When they arrived at Hart’s residence, the victim said she was bleeding profusely from a laceration on her nose. She said Hart allegedly smashed out the window on the passenger side of the vehicle and flattened a tire.

When officers went to Hart’s residence, they allegedly found him huffing paint fumes in the back garage. He was placed under arrest.

Hart’s criminal record showed he was previously convicted of domestic assault in Morrison County in September 2004 and again in November 2005. Hart also has a conviction for domestic assault from Hennepin County from October 2007.

If convicted, Hart faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
