Cross Country: Little Falls boys capture Granite Ridge Conference championship

The Little Falls boys cross country team won its first-ever Granite Ridge Conference championship, Oct. 16, easily outdistancing runner-up Mora by 35 points.

Senior Sebastian Sowada was the top finisher for the Flyers, taking third place in 17:19.

Seniors Cameron Smith (17:30) and Mathew Massmann (17:33) trailed close behind in fifth and sixth place, respectively, joined in the top 14 by eighth-grader Hunter Zupko (17:40) and senior Daniel Mushel (17:49).

Junior Josh Kapsner (18:03) followed in 22nd place and sophomore Jacob Massmann (18:41) took 29th.

In the girls race, Little Falls finished as runner-up behind champion St. Cloud Cathedral, led by eighth-grader Sophia Sowada (16:29) in seventh place and eighth-grader Annika Bjorge (16:36) in ninth.

The remainder of the Flyers’ contingent all finished in the top 24, including eighth-graders Anna McNamara (16:49) and Catherine Zack (16:50), junior Heidi Moe (17:02), sophomore Amelia Kresha (17:04) and freshman Kendal Hendrickson (17:14).
