Football: Holdingford routs Rockford to complete perfect regular season

Holdingford’s final tune-up for the postseason went off without a hitch, as the host Huskers pulverized host Rockford Area 42-0, Oct. 16, capping an unbeaten regular season.

Senior Mitch Messman and junior Matt Messman each ran in a pair of touchdowns for the Huskers, with Mitch Messman also completing a 9-yard scoring pass to senior Nick Catton.

Sophomore Wyatt Johnson closed the scoring with a 40-yard scamper in the fourth quarter.

Matt Messman led Holdingford on the ground with 101 yards rushing, while Mitch Messman threw for 86 yards and ran for another 80.

Junior Nathan Brinker played a key part in the shutout defensively, recording a sack, fumble recovery and blocked punt.
