obit--Pomplun-ClarenceClarence Pomplun, a resident of Minneapolis, formerly of Hillman, passed away Friday, Oct. 18, 2013.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Oct. 23, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz,with Fr. Kenneth Popp officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Clarence Arnold Pomplun was born Aug. 29, 1928, in Hillman, the son of Henry and Marie (Fenna) Pomplun. He grew up in the Hillman area where he attended country school. He entered the United States Army and service during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Lucille Meyer June 18, 1955, in Minneapolis. The couple made their home in Minneapolis. Clarence worked at Ford Motor Company for 37 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time on their hunting land and at the cabin on Platte Lake. He was a member of the Hillman American Legion.
Survivors include his son, Craig Pomplun of Ham Lake; grandchildren, Chad (Liz) Pomplun of Ham Lake and Brianna Pomplun of Ham Lake; great-grandchildren, Brock and Brody, Pomplun; sister, Betty Samuelson of Milwaukee, Wis., and Lynette (Rogers) Anthony of Tacoma, Wash., and other relatives and friends.
Clarence was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Marie; wife, Lucille Pomplun (June 8, 1985); brother, LeRoy Pomplun and a sister, Frances Ring.
