The Holdingford girls took second place in Thursday’s Section 6A meet at Long Prairie, earning a third consecutive trip to the state meet.

Juniors Andrew Zachman and Abe Skwira earned repeat trips to state individually for the Huskers boys.

Senior Abby Mokhtary (16:00) and freshman Jo Merten (16:03) finished back-to-back in 12th and 13th place, respectively, to pace the Huskers girls, joined in the top 26 by junior Emily Wolter (16:21) and sophomores Racael Preusser (16:41) and Sunni Ebnet (16:57).

Zachman placed third in the boys race in 16:44 and Skwira earned eighth in 17:26. The Huskers boys earned third place in the meet, trailing runner-up Long Prairie-Grey Eagle by just six points for the final state bid.

Royalton juniors Zachary Carlson (17:50) and Tremayne Collins (17:51) finished on the doorstep of the meet, with Carlson only 14 seconds out of the final spot individually.
