Freshman Sophie Larson has been chosen as Swanville’s October Student of the Month for grades 7 – 9. She is the daughter of David and Susan Larson.
Larson is very active in school activities participating in volleyball grades 7 – 9 and basketball and softball in grades 7 – 8, with plans to participate in both this upcoming year. She is currently in band and has been since fifth grade and has been active in theatre since seventh grade. Larson is also in Student Council, as she was last year. Larson has won an outstanding performance award in theatre and is consistently on the A Honor Roll.
“Sophie is a wonderful student to have in class. She sets high academic standards for herself and works hard to achieve them. She is a very mature young lady who never complains, or makes excuses when things do not go as planned,” said social studies teacher Tom Bzdok. “Sophie always has a smile on her face and puts everyone around her in a joyful mood. She has a positive attitude, an eagerness to learn, and encourages her classmates in a positive manner. Sophie is the type of student who will make the right decisions in life, and is sure to put a smile on everyone’s face.”
Outside of school, Larson is active in 4-H and church activities. She also volunteers at the Swanville and Little Falls branches of the Great River Regional Library.
“Sophie is a wonderful young lady and is very deserving of this award,” said science teacher Char Bzdok. “I am currently her physical science teacher as well as her volleyball coach. Sophie strives to do her best in the classroom as well as on the volleyball court. She is a very positive young lady who always has a smile on her face. She is a very responsible and ethical person.”
Larson plans to attend college, but is unsure of her major. She would like other students to know, “Don’t let other people run your life, run it for yourself.”
