Jodi Wetzel, an eligibility worker with Morrison County Social Services, was named the Employee of the Month by the Little Falls Chamber of Commerce.
Wetzel, who has been with Social Services for 25 years, said she really enjoys her job and the people she works with.
“It’s a great feeling to be part of a team consisting of such great people,” she said.
Wetzel’s job is determining eligibility for programs such as the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, family cash and healthcare for both families and adults. She said it’s a world of programs that are constantly changing and that she is challenged each and every day.
“It is very rewarding to be able to help people going through some of the most difficult times of their life. Watching them succeed, get back on their feet and accomplish their goals makes me feel like I’ve done my job,” she said. “So many elderly need assistance with food and their pride sometimes gets in the way of their needs. There are also those who have lost their jobs, their spouses and thus their income.”
“I have worked with Jodi for 25 years as a co-worker and as a supervisor. She is well-deserving of the Employee of the Month. Jodi is an excellent financial worker,” said her supervisor Karen Szczodroski.
Wetzel and her husband, Michel, have two children, Mic, 21, and Paige, 18. Both are in college.
Wetzel loves to travel, especially to warmer climates. She is currently planning a trip to Belize for her and Michel’s 25th wedding anniversary.
She is an avid scrapbooker, loves to go fishing at her cabin in Cass County and enjoys quality time with family and friends.
For becoming Employee of the Month, Wetzel received gift certificates from the West Side Bar, Falls Floral, Cabin Fever and Broadway Stylists. She also had her photo taken by Silker Studio and received a cookbook from St. Gabriel’s Hospital Hospice Program.
