Roman Lance, 85, of Foley, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at the Good Sheperd Lutheran Home, Sauk Rapids.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Ramey, with the Rev. Greg Tomhave officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the Hillman American Legion, Post 602.
Roman Lance was born April 20, 1928, in Morrill Township, Morrison County, to Charlie and Julia (Bolda) Lance. He married Ardyce Struck Nov. 26, 1960, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Ramey. The couple lived most of their married life in rural Foley. Roman was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He drove truck for many years for the Benton County Highway Department where he was a past member of the 49ers Union. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and the Hillman American Legion, Post 602. Roman enjoyed a good game of cribbage or spades. He especially enjoyed fishing and took great pride in mowing his lawn.
He is survived by his wife, Ardyce of Foley; sons and daughter, Nelson, Clear Lake; Bruce (Danelle Graf), St. Cloud; Arlette (Douglas Doty), Sauk Rapids; and Craig, Foley; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and his faithful companion, Bootsie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and two brothers.
