Stanley Corey

Stanley W. Corey, a resident of Apple Valley, passed away peacefully, Oct. 20, 2013, with his loving family at his side, after a fight with pancreatic cancer.
Stan was born in Minneapolis, Oct. 11, 1937. He grew up in southwest Minneapolis, where he graduated from Southwest High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp for three years and then graduated from Mankato State University, getting his BS and MS degrees in Elementary and Special Education, followed by a Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from the U of M. He taught and administered educational programs in Richfield (1964-1984) and Upsala (1986-1999), retiring in 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie; sons, Shawn Corey (Heidi Chial) and Robert Corey (Jannica); grandchildren, Alec Corey, six; Logan Corey, four; and Bryce Corey, two; and brother, Chet Corey (Kathy).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Myrtle (Gruber) Corey.
The funeral and memorial service will be held at 1:30 a.m. Nov. 14, at Zion Lutheran Church, 66632 300th St., Dexter, MN 55926, with internment at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. Visitation will be at the church one hour before the service. astor Lyle Aadahl will be officiating. Memorials can go to the church. Any flowers can be delivered to the church after 10 a.m. that day.
