Eileen Rekowski

Eileen Rekowski, 77, a resident of St. Cloud, passed away Nov. 16, 2013, at Talahi Care Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Nov. 16, at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Elmdale, with the Rev. John Odero officiating. Burial was in the Elmdale Cemetery.
Eileen was born in Little Falls to Charles and Edith (Petersen) Goebel. She was married to Bernard Rekowski and they had six children. When they were younger, Eileen would take her children fishing at Big Birch Lake. She retired from USWest Telephone Company after 50 plus years. Eileen was a past president of the Telephone Pioneers Group. She was also a sales person for Stanley products. Eileen was a strong, independent woman who was very organized and always made sure things were taken care of. She was a skilled cake decorator, Minnesota Twins fan, particularly Kirby Puckett and a good bowler, winning several championships. Eileen also enjoyed playing cards, Bingo and visiting the casino with her family. Eileen was a devout Catholic and stayed close with her siblings and enjoyed time with her grandchildren.
Eileen is survived by her children, Anthony (Annette) of Little Falls, John of Little Falls, Thomas of Foley and Michael (Karen) of St. Cloud and Anne (Leonard) Skroch of Foley; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren (and a greatly anticipated fourth on the way); siblings, Edwin (Mary Lou) Goebel of Richmond, Marcella (Thomas) Haeny of St. Cloud, James (Roberta) Goebel of Mahtomedi, Laverne Schaefer of Little Falls and Paul Goebel of Otsego; brother-in-laws, Jerry Yanta and John Gorka of Little Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joseph; siblings, Barbara Yanta, Joyce Gorka and Fred Goebel; and grandson, Benjamin Skroch.
