Kiah Mae Kestner, 20, Little Falls, was charged Nov. 13, with one felony count of check forgery.
On Sept. 19, a Little Falls police officer responded to a Little Falls bank that had reported a woman at the drive-up window was attempting to cash a $350 check which had possibly been stolen or forged.
The officer spoke with the woman, who was identified as Kestner. She allegedly told the officer the check was from her landlord and was for a rent refund.
The officer got in touch with the landlord who said several checks were missing from her residence. She denied writing out the check in question.
When confronted, Kest-ner began to cry and allegedly admitted to stealing the checks because she owed someone money.
If convicted, Kestner faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
