Going up against a strenuous schedule the first half of the season, Holdingford didn’t have much success in the win column early last year, starting off 3-14.
But as the season wore on, the tide began to turn for the Huskers, as they put together a 4-4 finish, culminated by nearly upsetting a 20-win team in Sauk Centre to open the playoffs.
Now, the Huskers will look to keep that momentum going.
“We hope so,” Holdingford head coach Nate Miller said. “It took the better part of the year for a lot of guys to grasp what was expected of them and what we expect as coaches every day. They did a great job of learning and getting better throughout the season.”
Senior guard Jeremy Springer (2012/13: 9.0 points per game, 4.1 rebounds) and junior post Matt Vasilj (6.6 points, 3.8 rebounds) return as starters for the Huskers.
Seniors Zach Juaire and Nick Hiltner, juniors Grant Bullert, Zach Ryan, Trevor Brown, Jacob Thell and sophomore Alex Knapp are looking to see increased action as well.
Holdingford was scheduled to open the season at home against Royalton, Friday.
