The County Board approved an increase in the rating of four county positions at its meeting, Tuesday.
A market analysis for public employment was done in 2012, as part of a review by Dorothy Person of Public Employment Human Resources Consulting. The positions were compared with similar positions in 13 other counties.
“For a while we put a hold on things because of budgetary issues,” said Auditor Russ Nygren. “The survey revealed that there were some positions that were considerably below the market.”
“We haven’t done a major rework of the system since the late 1980s,” said County Administrator Deb Gruber. “We tweak it as we go. We can feel relatively confident that we are in the ballpark for many positions, but some positions have changed over the years,”
Person’s recommendation was to increase the ratings for the following positions from 19 to 21: account specialist/elections administrator, deputy auditor/treasurer and records specialist. The account specialist position was bumped up from 17 to 19.
