To the Editor:
In regard to county officials requesting a salary increase, I think they should be satisfied with the salaries for a 40-hour week and benefits. There are many residents in the county that work 60-plus hours a week, trying to raise a family and meet their expenses, to pay taxes, insurances, living expenses and school costs. They would be very glad to get half or three fourths of their county officials’ pay.
A lot of residents still end up having to pick up food at food shelves to feed their family. How would county officials feel if they were in their shoes?
In my eyes, just because these officials have a title in the county does not mean that they should be worth any more money than you and I. — Jerome Stich, Burtrum
