Richard “Dick” Weinand

Obit-Weinand-formattedRichard “Dick,” 74, a resident of Rice, passed away Nov. 27, 2013, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church in Rice, with the Rev. Robert Trinklein officiating. Burial was at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls.
Richard Dick Weinand was born Dec. 23, 1938, in St. Cloud to George and Hildegard (Heim) Weinand. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Dick married Edris Anderson Feb. 14, 1961, and they were later divorced.He worked as a machinist and shop foreman at Granite City Ironworks in St. Cloud. Dick was a life member of St. Cloud East Side VFW Post #4847. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, spending time outdoors, playing cards, especially Crazy 8s and cribbage, spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed weekly family dinners. His family will remember him for his kind and loving demeanor.
Survivors include his daughters, Richael Weinand of Royalton and Laurel Lori (Brian) Catton of Holdingford; grandchildren, Erin Wunderlich of Puyallup, Wash., Emily Wunderlich of Royalton, Eli Wunderlich of Collegeville, Nick, Logan, Bridget and Brooke Catton, all of Holdingford; sisters, Arlene Ketten of Pendleton, N.Y. and Carol (Ken) Heinonen of Finlayson; and special friend, Rita Steiner of Rice.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister and an infant brother, Malcom.
