The completion of Swanville’s water and street project has been put on hold until spring.

On Tuesday, the Council approved a disbursement of $151,292.47 to Larson Excavating for work that has been completed so far.

Mike Rude from Widseth Smith Nolting said the project is nearly complete except for the second lift of concrete on the driveways and some touch up work.

The city has retained 5 percent of the contract or $51,652.08 until the project is completed.

Rude said, “The project should come in under the cost estimate.”

Councilman AJ Johnson said, “Have we held back enough to cover the costs to complete the project if the contractor does not finish it?”

Rude assured the Council that the money retained would cover the project if that would happen.

The project, which was estimated at $1,084,208.67, is expected to come in at $1,033.041.50.
