Lake Alexander Lake Improvement District president Kevin Flatau revealed to the County Board Tuesday, that the levy for residents of the lake will be reduced in 2014 to $10 from a 2013 fee of $261.
“We treated less acreage this year because of the late spring and the cold water,” said Flatau. “We also have a new service provider. Lake Restoration is saving us 40 percent.”
The improvement district received a grant from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources each of the last two years, which contributed to the reduction in the levy.
“We don’t know if that will continue, but we hope it will be this low for the next year or two,” Flatau said. “Maybe after that it will be more in the middle, maybe about $100.”
