Swanville High School selected Ashley Maciej and Jordan Sales as its October Athletes of the Month.
Maciej is a senior and was captain on the Bulldog volleyball team this year.
“Ashley is a hard-working individual during practice and a strong leader on the court. Ashley is our starting libero and has seen front row play as well,” said coach Kerie Thoma. “As a libero for our Bulldog varsity volleyball team, she has accumulated 241 digs, 20 kills from the back row, and has an 86 percent serve receive on the year. Ashley is a very strong attribute to our team.”
Thoma said Maciej is able to serve, hit and is willing to play any position.
“She has a strong energy about her too when she is out on the court. We have had great chemistry on the court this season and a lot of it starts with her. Ashley is a great role model and has a wonderful attitude,” said Thoma.
Sales played USA football and finished the season with a flurry for the Patriots.
“Jordan is a two-way player for the Patriots and also does the punting for the team,” said coach Jay Loven. “Jordan caught 23 passes for 549 yards (23.9 yard average) and six touchdowns during the October stretch in addition to the playoffs.”
Sales also collected 20 solo tackles, eight assisted tackles and 4.5 sacks defensively for USA.
“Jordan is a junior this year, so we are looking forward to next year’s opportunities and his leadership,” said Loven.
