Donald “Donnie” Polhkamp


Donald Pohlkamp, age 55, of Hillman, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at the St. Cloud Hospital, surrounded by his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Dec. 10, at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Morrill, with the Rev. Leo Moenkedick officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Donald Pohlkamp was born Aug. 10, 1958, in Little Falls, to Theodore and Anna (Gangl) Pohlkamp. He graduated from Pierz High School in 1976 and attended St. Cloud Vocational School for welding. Out of high school he worked for Fred Block Construction and Mike Gangl Trucking as a milk hauler. He married Kerry Young, May 2, 1981, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Buckman and they later divorced. Donnie lived and worked most his life in the Morrill area. He worked as a dairy, beef and grain farmer for and Joe Miller Farms and also as a hired hand for Royal Farms in Royalton. On Jan. 2, 2001, Donnie was paralyzed in a snowmobile accident and since that time had done lawn care and volunteered his time at the St. Josephs Parish Hall and St. Josephs Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, the Gilman Knights of Columbus and the Ramey/Morrill Lions Club. Memorials are preferred in-leu of flowers.
He is survived by his son, Adam (Sherry) of Foley; grandson, Austin and expected granddaughter of Foley and Deb Bialke of Hillman; brothers and sisters, Marge (Larry) Teig of Brainerd, Thomas Toby (Elaine) of Royalton, Richard (Linda) of Buckman, Pat (Gerry) Britz of St. Cloud, twin sister, Dona (Danny) Janson of Pierz, Rosie (Carl) Rinkel of Maple Grove, Linda (Mike) Brezinka of Buckman, Roger (Terra) of Buckman and brother-in-law, Dennis Weber of Rice; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by Debs children, Shawn, Chad (Missy), Nichole, Miranda, Matt (Michelle) and Kaelyn, Toby and Haileigh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Anna; son, Shawn, July 4, 2009, sister, Teresa Weber; and nephew and niece, Jason Rinkel and Amy Britz.
