Dolores M. Stanek

Dolores M. Stanek, 92- year-old resident of Little Falls, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society Home in Brainerd.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Dec. 14, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, with Father Joe Herzing officiating.
Dolores M. Stanek was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Swan River Township, Morrison County, to the late John and Helen (Yourczek) Jelinski. She was one of seven children and graduated from Little Falls High School. Dolores worked a few years at the Morrison County Courthouse in the Triple A office. She was united in marriage to Otto Stanek, Nov. 25, 1939, the couple had three children, Ronald, Roger and Renee. Dolores and Otto lived in various Minnesota cities operating gas stations. In 1949, along with Ottos brother Daniel, Dolores and Otto built Stanek Oil Company where Dolores helped pump gas and keep the record books. In the early 50s they built Ford Tractor Implement across from Stanek Oil Company. In 1953, the couple managed the Pikes Point Resort on Mille Lacs Lake for one year. Otto and Dolores sold the oil business in Little Falls in 1957 and bought a 120 acres farm in Green Prairie Township. Along with homemaking Dolores served as Green Prairie Township clerk from 1976 to 1998. Dolores and Otto owned a cabin on Sebie Lake and one near Orr. On Dec. 15, 1991, Otto passed away and in 2007 Dolores moved off the farm to Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. Dolores hobbies included, playing cards, dancing, gardening, canning, making quilts, embroidering, fishing, traveling, raising chickens, cooking, baking and drinking coffee. Dolores is survived by her children, Roger (Arlene) Stanek of Little Falls and Renee (Ray) Zok of Vergas; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Stanek of Hogt Lakes; siblings, Mildred Motes of Clarksdale, Ariz., Wilfred (Betty) Jelinski of Little Falls and Ralph (Mary) Jelinski of Eagen; sister-in-law, Pat Jelinski of Little Falls; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen (Yourczek) Jelinski; husband, Otto Stanek; son, Ronald Stanek; siblings, Gerard Jelinski, Arthur Jelinski, Bernadine Woltman and Irene Maciej.
